Industry Practice - Week 18:
In this blog I will be talking about alpha testing and why it is important to do, where the script is at the moment and how the meeting went this week.
Alpha testing:
Alpha testing is done during the creation of the game in order to find bugs, glitches, mistakes or other issues that may be found when creating the game. It's quite important to do alpha testing before jumping straight to beta testing so you can catch a lot of the bugs that come up whilst the game is still being developed so that you don't have as many issues to fix during beta testing.
Beta testing is where the game is nearly finished production and most of the issues have been fixed during alpha testing. You may still get a lot of bugs or issues during beta testing that needs to be fixed however beta testing is used more to "find all the possible ways to break the game along the lookout for all the minor issues" (ixie, 2017). There is two different types of beta testing, open beta testing and closed beta testing. Open beta testing is for anyone that wants to participate however closed beta testing is only for a select group of people which can be a lot more manageable to be able to work with a smaller group of people but they may not find as many bugs or glitches as a bigger group may be able to. Sometimes closed betas will start off with a smaller group of people that start to test and after a while a bigger group is allowed to test as well.

The script progress:
I messaged Lottie during the lesson to ask for their part of the script so that I could edit it as she had sent her previous version before however she had mentioned that she had done day 1 - 3 so I was still waiting on her to send the link for it. I had finished day 4 - 5 whilst I was still waiting for Lottie to send over the document however she was talking awhile since I had first asked her in January so I messaged her again today in class.
Later in the day Lottie let me know that she had only written one long day for day 1 rather than having 3 separate days which meant that I would have to cut down day 1 a lot or rewrite it and then write day 2 and 3. This means that I will have to spend longer working on the script than I would have hoped to as I have to write days that I thought were already done and then edit them after too.
Team Meeting:
Date: 21/02/2025
In Attendance: Katie, Lottie, Jess, Ed, Louie, Jacob
Meeting Agenda & My Role: I checked what everyone would be working on in lesson and give tasks if needed.
Decisions and/or Actions & Deadlines: I didn't have much to talk about in the meeting as most just had to continue what they were working on already.
