Industry Practice - Team Roles:

In this blog I will discuss the team roles we have and any changed that we make throughout the project.

Throughout the project all of us went through several different roles but for the most part they stayed the same or we added or removed a role from someone. We decided that everyone would help code the game however everyone would have other individual roles that they needed to complete for the game so that everyone could work on something they wanted to and still have people working on different parts of the project to make sure that production was moving forward. Our first roles that we gave out were:

Katie - 3D, Coding
Lottie - Script writer, Coding
Jacob - Concept Artist, 2D, Coding
Jess - 2D, Coding
Louie - UI, Coding
Ed - Storyboarder, Coding

Near the start of the project we didn't know if we would need a director or not so when we first came up with the list of roles that we needed and gave out we didn't include a director however a few weeks into the project we realised it would be a good idea to include in our new roles:

Katie - Director, 3D, Coding
Lottie - Co-Director, Script writer, Coding
Jacob - Concept Artist, 2D, Coding
Jess - 2D, Coding
Louie - UI, Coding
Ed - Storyboarder, Coding

We found that this way didn't really give out the jobs fairly as some had more than others so we decided to rearrange the roles again. This is the final version of the roles:

Katie - Director, Coding & later on Script Writer
Lottie - Co-Director, Script writer, Coding
Jacob - Concept Artist, 2D, Coding
Jess - 2D, UI, Coding
Louie - UI, Coding
Ed - Research, Backgrounds, Coding

My role as a director meant that a lot of the project I made sure that everyone would be working on what they needed to and completing their tasks on time. Being a director isn't just about making sure that others are doing what they should though, it's also about helping them with issues they have or making decisions that need to be made.
