Building Alliances - Week 4:

In this blog I will talk about the tasks that I started in lesson such as the Environmental Statement, talking about ideas that we wanted to start making drawings for and more research I did for our towers.

Environmental Statement:

I completed the Environmental Statement that we needed to create. I used different bullet points that had been written quite a while ago when we first started the project so that we could go back to it when we had more time and could write it up into a more professional way.

I struggled to find things that should be included when I was writing it up however I found it easier to use the bullet points that we had discussed about before which was easier to start off with as a start instead of starting from scratch for it.

Ideas that we had:

We were talking about the different enemies that we wanted and the different towers we used. I suggested some ideas that we could take inspiration from different tv shows and films.

Schoellkopf, C., 2017. 15 Magical Creatures in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ [online]. The Hollywood Reporter: Movie News. Available at: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/fantastic-beasts-15-magical-creatures-harry-potter-prequel-958425/ [Accessed 18 October 2024].

Specifically for fibre I suggested that we take inspiration from the fantastic beasts character Pickett who is a plant like character which we would use for inspiration for the designs we have for fibre microplastic. I found that it was very similar to what Seb had researched with looking at different types of Mircoplastics.

Valentino, A. and Russell, T., 2023. Ben 10’s Original Aliens, Ranked Worst To Best [online]. Screen Rant: Ben 10. Available at: https://screenrant.com/ben-10-aliens-original-ranked-best/ [Accessed 18 October 2024].

A lot of the Ben Ten Aliens we thought could be used for inspiration for different microplastics if we took it in a more organic way and have them look less like characters and more like jagged pieces rather than smooth. There are quite a few that we could take inspiration from however as they are more humanoid than we would like we can mainly take inspiration from their designs instead.

Selonianth, 2013. What is the name of the helmet shown on the loading screen [online]. Stack Exchange: Questions. Available at: https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/118826/what-is-the-name-of-the-helmet-shown-on-the-loading-screen [Accessed 18 October 2024]

For loading screens I was suggesting that we could do similar loading screens to Skyrim but we thought that the key art would be better for what we were looking to do such as how kingdom rush has their key art in the loading screens instead of having a 3D model that can spin around whilst its loading.

We decided on the towers that we want to have as the starting 3 towers which are 2 mushroom towers and one bone marrow tower. Each of them will have different types of attacks and a different look to them so that you can tell which tower will do what on a glance.

How kingdom rush towers work and look like

Demirkan, 2022. All Quotes of All Towers in Kingdom Rush Origins [online]. Steam: Guides. Available at: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2417626240 [Accessed 18 October 2024]

There are several different towers all with upgrades that can be put on them with each different tower having a different way to attack. There are different categories for all the towers which are the Ranged Towers, Barracks Towers, Magic Towers, Artillery Towers and Special Towers.
