Industry Practice - Week 5: (Reflection)
In this blog I will talk about how the powerpoint went and how we are going to use the feedback that we got to improve our game.
Our Presentation:

My thoughts on the presentation:
I thought that it went well however most of us were really nervous for it. I was really nervous with having to talk about the slides I needed to discuss. I had to talk on the slide with our introductions and about the platforms our game will be on. Despite being nervous to deliver the presentation especially being the last group to deliver our presentation, I think our group did a great job. I personally found it quite challenging to stand up infront of the class and talk about our presentation due to my high levels of anxiety however I feel that considering the anxiety I was feeling I did a great job in being able to talk about my slides.
Smart Targets:
In my next presentation I will make sure to show more detailed research and use websites such as NewZoo to help with the creation of ideas and the final project that will be presented.
Feedback we were given:
Everyone presented confidently and appeared well prepared for the presentation. The delivery was clear and logical. All the necessary information was covered thoroughly and to a great level for this point in the module. It was evident that everyone participated in the creation of the pitch. All questions were answered confidently and coherently.
The presentation design is good, it reflects the mood and tone of the game concept. More visuals in the early slides would have helped the pace. The studio team portraits added a personal touch to the pitch. Although it's fine at this point in the module it would be good for future studio marketing to create these originally rather than using an art generator, in Industry you would need to use original IP for studio marketing assets so try to reflect this within this module. Your studio logo works well and aids in communicating the overall feeling of the studio brand.
You have conducted a market analysis; this could be researched further to aid with the development of your game. Such as using sites like NewZoo to establish a more detailed player profile.
You have have chosen to keep the mechanics of your game simple and follow a 'choose your own adventure' choice driven system to guide your player through the story. This allows you to focus on the narrative for the 5 - 10 minute gameplay duration. I like the narrative choice of having the characters evolving and potentially becoming more monstrous based on those choices, such as giving or refusing help. Make sure to research the ethical considerations of portraying mental health conditions in this way to ensure you are sensitive and accurate. You should avoid falling into stereotyping - making it clear withing your game that it is the condition that's monstrous in its effects, not the person effected.
You've made a good start for your concept drawings and considered character, environment and UI. Your game narrative is centred around a main character and their friends. As you develop this story, consider more details to flesh out the setting - such as where did they meet? Where are they located now? What age are they all? What do they do, for work / hobbies etc? Develop your characters further and this will aid you in the development of your concept art and assets as you progress.
Overall good work Uncanny Valley studios. I look forward to seeing the game develop.
