We worked on this as a group in class with those who were there and we were talking about the different events that we wanted to happen so that I could write it up and our script writer could start working on a draft of the story so that we could start getting the story and script finished so that we could focus on other parts of the game that needed to be finished.
Other ideas that we wanted to include in the game:
We wanted the polaroid to play a role in the story however we didn't originally know how to include it in the story. We knew we wanted to start and end with it however we didn't know how we wanted to include it in the rest of the story. We decided that we could have her take a polaroid each day and at the end of each day they place it in their journal and they write a little description of how the day went and what happened. We wanted the polaroid at the start and the end to be important so we decided to have the first polaroid be of the MC's mental health friends (Personifications of Anxiety, Depression and PTSD) and the polaroid at the end either their mental health friends or if the player sides with the best friend they will burn that same polaroid instead.
We decided that we wanted to have the days be skippable by having the MC stay in bed as they don't want to go out because they feel so overwhelmed however we wanted this to have a negative impact and have this be a way to get the bad ending. There will be other ways to get this ending however we thought that it would be an easy way for the player to get it. We still need to decide how it would play out during the game if you chose to skip all the days or if you only skipped one or two.
We decided that we wanted the character to be in university studying dance as a lot of visual novels if they take place at a school include regular class rooms and we wanted something a bit more interesting than that. We also decided that we want the school name as TNU as inspiration from NTU however this is still something that we need to solidify the decision for. Another decision we decided on was having the MC's mum message them each day and depending on the option you pick may mean that your more likely to get one ending or another depending on the choices you choose throughout the rest of the day.
Meeting:
Date: 05/11/2024
In Attendance: Katie, Lottie, Jess, Ed, Louie, Jacob
Meeting Agenda & My Role: My role was to assign tasks to each of the members in my group and go over any of the tasks they did between the time from our last lesson and the meeting.
Decisions and/or Actions & Deadlines: I gave tasks to all the members of my group and asked them to complete atleast a few designs for Fridays lesson
Resources: Discord & Pinterest
Other Reflections:
I decided that we needed to start working on getting all of the research done and out the way so I suggested that the members in our group start working on their case studies on both the Role Model case study and the Legal and Economical case study. I said they didn't need to complete it all straight away but that it might be a good idea that they start working on it now rather than leaving it till last minute so they could focus on creating assets for the game.
I assigned different tasks for everyone in the group such as asking the UI designers for some concept art for the UI so that we could give feedback on it in lesson. They had already started working on splitting up all the tasks and getting moodboards made using Pinterest. I asked that our script writers start working on getting a draft of the script ready. One of the members suggested that we should all work on either character designs or environments so that we could start of finalising designs and so that we could start making the more distorted versions of the characters. We decided on the tasks that we each wanted to work on and made a list of them all.
